Dante’ M. Walston is a man with a vision to work hard and provide unparalleled leadership to the people of Portsmouth. Born and raised in Virginia, his family and mentors instilled in him the importance of public service. As a young boy he was taught to give back to the community and those who couldn’t help themselves. These principles stand tall and resonate to this day with Dante’.
Dante’ also understands the value of education and has invested his time and volunteerism in a collaborative effort where public education and public/private partnerships bring about the progress our youth and community needs. As a music educator, Dante’s educational career embraces his time at Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University and the Catholic University of America.
Standing on the economic frontlines of our regional and state economy at the Port of Virginia for the past seven years, Dante’ will listen to Portsmouth citizens with a vision and a passion in an inclusive, yet, necessary way that can move Portsmouth forward. Dante’ knows that commerce and trade in Virginia are driven by the workforce of our localities and Portsmouth. From Cavalier Manor to Churchland, from Craddock to Olde Towne, Portsmouth’s workforce plays a vital role in the labor, management, and execution of the 5th largest port in America.
Dante’s Platform of Portsmouth Priorities include:
- Economic Development
- Affordable Housing
- Combating Flooding
- Public Education
- Community Safety
- Public Health
- Infrastructure Funding
Dante’ is looking forward to engaging with Portsmouth’s communities and the city’s people about how to move Portsmouth forward. He pledges to serve openly, honestly and with transparency in advancing the lives of every citizen of Portsmouth. Dante’ will do the work. On Tuesday, November 3, let’s bring progress to Portsmouth by electing Dante’ Walston to Portsmouth City Council!
